the playgrounds of compensation

blurry beguiling 
   alluring wiling
                                      lies 
      glisten in your  eyes
most agreeable
                            tantalize
no hint of compromise
                     worldly wise

they hide 
compensatory
justifications
       inside
dreamy schemes
                             lullabies 
to lull 
to sleep
       unforseen

in your grasp 
    are longings 
toys of entitlement
               illicit intent
the kind hidden
in bottom drawers

to be played 
because it should have 
               been yours 
hasn't gone to plan
now you're due

in your reach
are dreams denied
time to make up
for losses
            owed you

so take
you'll have it
regardless
and promise
                    it all 
      until
 it hits the wall
when you run 
back to where you
belong
and right the 
wrong
you strung
along

when 
playgrounds of compensation 
become
                                       inconvenient

                                          
be reasonable darling


yet
             another playground intent
