the guest

Picture
for most he's regarded a decidedly unwelcome guest
making his appearance at the most inconvenient times
imposing on everyone regardless of their circumstances
he requires no invitation

when he makes an appearance he's certain to cause the
most lingering affliction
at times the source of strife long afterwards
he leaves when he likes and with much disruption in his
wake

sometimes he makes return visits and is not at all put
off with the pleas of the residents that he is most
inconsiderate of their situation
actually it seems at times that brings him on

he comes from a lineage of imposition marked or unmarked
often he has changed the course of affairs due to
forcing himself into occasions no one has called him to
attend
or maybe some have and then he's quick to visit those
who invited him. He holds no fidelity

most often it's gone unnoticed by everyone except
those immediately concerned
regardless, it's no less a profound imposition
though not likely for those he's been called upon to
alleviate and render convenience
but he will no doubt visit them in due time as well
make no mistake he's no one's servant

some say it's his way of keeping us bound
he seems to hold no partiality with his arrogance
considering himself the one best qualified to decide who
to dwell with at any given moment

he can be a spiteful miscreant
it's been said the best way to keep him at bay is to
invite him in
