the daydream
she ran to me beaming her golden sunrise in the warm breeze
bounding into my arms that were awaiting her joy
and we laughed the morning long unaware of the world
she walked beside me hand in mine as we watched the noonday sun
glisten on the rippling cool waters and we sighed our smiles
embracing arm and arm
she hurried on ahead anxious as the twilight dimmed
and shown its many shadows obscuring the way
and from time to time she threw her glance behind
as I labored my stride to attend her steps
then suddenly I lost her in the black forest fog
when the sun had gone from sight. I hurried but
could not see her until on the other side emerged,
among a garden of moonlight, her name lovingly engraved
bounding into my arms that were awaiting her joy
and we laughed the morning long unaware of the world
she walked beside me hand in mine as we watched the noonday sun
glisten on the rippling cool waters and we sighed our smiles
embracing arm and arm
she hurried on ahead anxious as the twilight dimmed
and shown its many shadows obscuring the way
and from time to time she threw her glance behind
as I labored my stride to attend her steps
then suddenly I lost her in the black forest fog
when the sun had gone from sight. I hurried but
could not see her until on the other side emerged,
among a garden of moonlight, her name lovingly engraved
