who would say Truth is hate?

Who would say truth is hate?

what is hate speech
who determines the line that is drawn
what is hate speech
what is not
where exactly is that line

can it be hate speech if it's true
how can it be that truth
in a supposedly free country
would ever be outlawed
how did we get to this point

if you can prove a thing to be true
how can you possibly be labeled
a hater
who labels you
the ones perpetrating

since when, in this country
or anywhere freedom is claimed,
does the perpetrator of a crime
call the shots to the purveyor of truth

where do we find ourselves these days
where are we going with this

even if there were no crime
who can tell another not to believe
or stand by what they believe
or suppress what they believe
in a supposedly free country
how can this be outlawed for
some and not others
especially if others are not
prohibited in any way from this
but are in fact protected

how did we get to this point
make no mistake
we are there now

where are we going with this

the trouble is so many are apathetic
so many believe in nothing but getting
through that day in their way
everything else matters little
unless it interferes with that
the trouble is, if this goes much further,
it will interfere with that, big time
only then, of course, it will be too late
it's always like that

when freedom becomes tyranny
is usually not an overnight process
that is the trouble with this
here we are frogs in a pot

who, in this country that claims love of freedom,
allows this to go on without serious action
just about everyone these days
that's all it ever takes

apathy
apathy is abetting
apathy is cowardice
apathy is the real enemy

the hate comes from those who would deny others
the right to express and stand by the truth
history clearly shows
this is how all tyranny begins
